Tulsa Oratorio Chorus 20th Aniversary Season begins November 17, 2012 with Hodie

The almost theatrical sound of Hodie, a Vaughan Williams cantata, will usher in the holiday choral season with a delightful musical presentation of the Christmas story. The eloquent Mass of the Children rounds out this program, featuring the unmistakable Rutter sound. The Holland Hall and Tulsa Children’s Chorus join TOC for this festive program. TOC takes this concert to New York City’s Carnegie Hall the week following this Tulsa concert.

Come Away to The Skys: A High Lonesome Mass

TOC at Cain’s Ballroom, November 1st!

The TOC Chamber Chorus presents “A High Lonesome Mass”,  an exciting new work written by our own Artistic Director, Dr. Tim Sharp.

After the successful private performance this past summer of Dr. Sharp’s composition, it became clear public performance should be scheduled. This event is Thursday, November 1, at Tulsa’s fantastic and historic Cain’s Ballroom.

This collection of music is a winsome set of folk-hymn arrangements originating in the mid-nineteenth century collections of the Sacred Harpand Southern Harmony, and organized around a significant liturgy of the church. The hymnbooks from which this music is found were unique to the southern region of the United States. The work incorporates banjo, mandolin, guitar, violin and double-bass, and the 25 voices of the TOC Chamber Chorus.

Tickets are General Admission and are available online or by calling 1-866-977-6849. Advance purchase is encouraged due to limited seating. This is an all-ages event.
