Plan to attend our 2016 Fundraiser: The Sound of Music – An Evening with TOC and Travesty

“The hills are alive with the sound of music….” Every time we hear those words it evokes a scenic Alpine setting and the great songs of an ever popular musical.  So imagine a gala evening with friends, wine, dessert and selected songs from the Musical – performed by TOC singers with a satirical twist that is entertaining, funny and somewhat of a departure from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s original creation!

Once again it is time to present our annual gala! This event benefits one of Tulsa’s talented musical arts organizations, Tulsa Oratorio Chorus.  Inspiring audiences for 24 years, this non-profit choral society is comprised of talented and dedicated volunteer musicians, each sharing a passion for great choral music, and a dedication to the art of classical music performance. A chorus with more than 100 singers blends diverse professional backgrounds into one voice, presenting concerts of choral masterpieces in Tulsa and also supporting the performances of sister arts organizations such as the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, the Tulsa Opera, and the Tulsa Ballet.  TOC is led by the incomparable Dr. Tim Sharp, Artistic Director of TOC and President of the American Choral Directors Association.

As with any arts organization, ticket sales cover only a small portion of the cost of these concerts. We rely on the generosity of donors like you to keep our music playing in this community.  Sponsorships and tables can be purchased as follows:

Platinum Podium Sponsor – $2,500.00 Includes a table for 10 – 12, Best Seat in the House, Swag Bag of Goodies for the Sponsor,  special recognition on all signage and brochures, and the option to have VIPs join your party.

Tulsa Oratorio Chorus to join the Tulsa Opera in Samson & Delilah

TOC will join the Tulsa Opera in their season’s epic climax with Samson and Delilah – a grand opera of biblical proportions. In a word, this show is big! It’s filled with gorgeous music and spectacular vocal fireworks, and will require both our own Tulsa Oratorio Chorus and the Tulsa Opera to give us the immense sound this show requires. Portico Dans Theatre will provide the ballet for this opera, including the show’s infamous bacchanal.

Come see Tulsa Oratorio Chorus this weekend with the Tulsa Symphony

Conductor of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, inspirational teacher, author of “The Art of Possibility,” and celebrity guest speaker, Maestro Benjamin Zander, will lead TOC and the Tulsa Symphony in Beneath the Score: Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony this Saturday, March 12, at 7:30 pm at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.  Beneath the Score: Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony will not only feature a discussion and demonstration with Zander explaining the intricacies of the work but also a performance of the extraordinary piece with Tulsa Symphony and Tulsa Oratorio Chorus.

The usual pre-concert conductor interview for Saturday night is cancelled because Maestro Zander will take the first 25 minutes of the concert to present a brief walk-through of Mahler’s 2nd Symphony with musical examples from the orchestra.  Beneath the Score will be followed by the usual intermission and the complete performance of the work by Mahler.  In place of the Conductor Interview at 6:30, you are invited to attend the pre-concert musical presentation by Hyechka Club of Tulsa in the Westby Pavilion from 6:45-7:15.

We hope to see you there!
